We Care

Community and Charitable Works by Phil Hoffmann Travel

Phil Hoffmann Travel believes in community support. Staying in touch with community based organisations allows Phil Hoffmann Travel to maintain its level of community and customer service. Phil Hoffmann Travel is also a supporter of local school groups that often visit on tours of the facilities and enquire about a career in the travel industry.

Our active and positive Work Experience program with students attending the Travel Colleges is another way that Phil Hoffmann Travel is putting back into the community. Working within the organisation gives them the opportunity to learn some important workplace skills and gain some knowledge and insight into the exciting world of the travel industry.

Phil Hoffmann Travel also cares for the Environment. You can read our Environmental Policy here.

The 2H Project

Continuing with the Phil Hoffmann Travel “We Care” philosphy.....the nominated charity for this year's PHT Expo was the 2H Project and we raised nearly $2,000 through client donations at the door.

WHAT Is The 2h Project? The 2h Project is a not for profit Australian development organisation working with local communities overseas, to bring help and build hope for the poor and disadvantaged, started 9 years ago by Adelaide's Kate Taylor.  More details on the following link .http://www.the2hproject.com/.

Here are the project options that that money can buy:

· The training and resourcing of 96 Traditional Birth Attendants

· Restoring the sight to 48 poor and disadvantaged Cambodians

· Starting 6 new small business changing the lives of generations to come or

· Help purchase materials required for next seasons harvest on our agricultural project in Pailin

Here's a short note from Kate Taylor the charity founder after the event;

Hi Alison

WOW what a successful event – you and your team must be so thrilled and exhausted!

We must congratulate you on building such a fantastic team around you. Everyone we met were warm, friendly, encouraging and loved working for you – they had nothing but praises to sing about PHT!

On a more personal level Kev in and I were blown away by the embrace of 2h. Having journeyed for so many years by ourselves to have the kind of support that you showed us over the weekend makes us speechless! THANK YOU...

After a long night of counting and re-counting what seemed like millions of coins, the total came to $1925.85

That money will go directly to the projects on the ground – if you had a project preference let me know and we can allocate it for you?!

Thanks again for all you have done. We are blown away by your generosity.

Would love to catch up again when your free

Talk soon...

The plight of Hayley Martin as featured on Channel 7's Today Tonight (21 April 2009)

Channel 7‘s Today tonight programme aired a story early in the week about a 4 month old baby girl called Hayley in Reynella who suffers from SLO, (Smith Lemli Opitz Syndrome), which is an extremely rare genetic condition. The story highlighted that some IGA stores were trying to raise funds to get Hayley to the US for essential treatment, and some young teenagers came in and stole the tin.

Parents, Anthony and Tamara Martin haven't got the money to get to America and baby Hayley will struggle to survive without help she needs. Touched by their struggle, Phil Hoffmann Travel have stepped in to offer assistance of return Qantas airfares for Hayley, Mum & Dad to the US to make sure Hayley gets the treatment she needs. The family will be attending a conference in Boston in June for 2 weeks to hopefully find a treatment path back here in Australia.

Victorian Bushfire Relief February 2009

Phil Hoffmann Travel Staff from Glenelg, Norwood and Stirling have found a variety of ways of raising needed funds & suppliers for the Victorian Bushfire Relief Fund.

  • A fund of $1600 earmarked for a Social Club function will now be donated in full to the Red Cross for the victims of the devastating fires.
  • A Casual Day, raffle and Sausage Sizzle for staff and suppliers will also be held on February 13 to raise further funds for those in need.
  • All staff have been encouraged to donate blood this week and have been given time off during the week to assist the Red Cross with much needed supplies.
  • Collections for staff at each office are being held for clothing, blanket, food & goods donations which will then be donated.

The money from our fund raising efforts will be donated to The Red Cross & the RSPCA Victorian Bushfires Appeals. Our thoughts are with our family and friends across the border in this difficult time.
