Day 4

Giza - Luxor

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Cairo Airport for your flight to Luxor.

Upon arrival in Luxor, you will board a ship on the banks of the Nile and settle into your cabin ahead of departure.

This marks the start of your four-night Nile cruise where history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes come together to create an unforgettable journey. It’s an incredible way to explore some of Egypt's most iconic and historical sites along the longest river in the world, the Nile.

After lunch, you will visit the East bank of the Nile including the Karnak and Luxor Temples. The Luxor Temple was known to ancient Egyptians as Ipet Reseyet, the Harem of the South. The Karnak Temples were known as Iput-Isut, the most esteemed of places. Karnak is built on a massive scale with the complex covering 100 acres and its history spans 13 centuries.

After your visit to the temples, you will be transported back to the ship, where you will freshen up for dinner and then be picked up for the Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple.  This popular and captivating evening attraction brings the ancient history of the temple to life through a combination of sound, light, and storytelling. The Sound and Light Show takes place in Karnak Temple’s great courtyard, which provides a stunning backdrop for the spectacle.

The show usually begins just after sunset, as the sky darkens, and the temple's majestic structures are illuminated with vibrant, colourful lights. As you settle into your seats, the lights fade, and a narrator’s voice rises, guiding you on a captivating journey through Egypt's ancient history. Once the spectacle concludes, you will return to the ship and the tranquillity of your cabin, to reflect on an unforgettable evening.

Day 8

Aswan - Abu Simbel - Cairo

Today you will disembark from the ship after an early breakfast and travel to the airport for your flight to Abu Simbel. The flight provides an opportunity to view the beautiful landscapes of southern Egypt from the air. An Egyptologist guide will meet you upon arrival in Abu Simbel and show you around the archaeological site.

Abu Simbel is renowned for its massive rock temples, which were constructed during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century. The temples were dedicated to the gods Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah, as well as to Ramses II himself.

The temples were relocated between 1964 and 1968 to prevent them from being submerged by the creation of Lake Nasser following the construction of the Aswan High Dam. In a remarkable UNESCO-coordinated effort, the temples were moved approximately 200m inland and raised 65 metres onto an artificial hill, carefully preserving their original orientation and unique solar alignment. The relocation is considered a significant achievement in heritage conservation.

Accompanied by your expert Egyptologist guide, stand in awe beneath the towering colossi that guard the great temple and discover carved baboons high on the rock face. Learn the stories behind Abu Simbel's detailed bas-reliefs and hieroglyphs and take in the unusual dedications to Queen Nefertari before visiting her own exquisite temple.

After your Abu Simbel tour you will return to Aswan by air to take your onward flight to Cairo.

Upon arrival in Cairo, you will be transferred to Fairmont Cairo City for the next two nights.
