Your tour takes you to: Tokyo → Hakone → Takayama → Kanazawa → Kyoto → Hiroshima → Osaka

Explore the best of Japan on this deluxe tour across Honshu. Begin in Tokyo before travelling to Hakone, where you’ll embark on a scenic cruise across Lake Ashi, set against the backdrop of the imposing Mount Fuji. Learn the art of washi paper making in Gokayama, make the pilgrimage through Fushimi Inari Shrine’s red torii gates, see the Golden Pavilion and sit down for a traditional tea ceremony in Kyoto.

Tick off a stop in Arashiyama, then take a bullet train to Hiroshima to reflect at the Peace Memorial Park and visit Miyajima’s Itsukushima Shrine, before concluding in Osaka’s Dotonbori district. With a knowledgeable English-speaking guide, four Shinkansen journeys and comfortable coach transportation, get to know Japan as you explore its must-see destinations.

Day 1: Arrive Tokyo
Arrive at Tokyo International Airport (HND) or Narita International Airport (NRT) and make your own way to the hotel. Enjoy time at leisure before meeting your tour director and fellow travellers at 5pm, followed by a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2: Tokyo
Visit historic Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple, browse Nakamise Street, ascend Tokyo Skytree for panoramic views, continue to Meiji Shrine and experience the famous Shibuya Crossing. Evening at leisure.

Day 3: Tokyo
Enjoy a full day at leisure or join an optional tour visiting the Tokyo Imperial Palace gardens, Marunouchi district and Ginza.

Day 4: Tokyo → Hakone
Travel by private coach to Hakone. Cruise on Lake Ashi with possible Mt Fuji views, ride the Hakone Ropeway and enjoy a local soba or ramen lunch before checking in and dining with your group.

Day 5: Hakone → Takayama
Travel by Shinkansen to Nagoya, then express train to Takayama. Explore Edo-period streets and visit Takayama Jinya before group dinner.

Day 6: Takayama → Shirakawa-go → Gokayama → Kanazawa
Visit UNESCO-listed Shirakawa-go and its traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses. Continue to Gokayama for a traditional washi paper-making class before arriving in Kanazawa. Evening at leisure.
