DAY 1 | DARWIN – KATHERINE (L, D)
Arrive at Darwin Berrimah Station where Journey Beyond hosts will direct you to the check-in area. Enjoy a welcome experience with light refreshments, barista coffee and a glass of Bollinger before boarding. Settle into your cabin as The Ghan begins its journey south and join an exclusive Bollinger tasting and masterclass led by brand ambassador Thibault Jaubert, showcasing some of the maison’s most memorable vintages.
Lunch is served onboard in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant before your off-train experience in Katherine. Cruise through the towering sandstone cliffs of Nitmiluk Gorge and learn about its deep cultural significance. Return to the train for a memorable dinner crafted by international Michelin-starred chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho.

DAY 2 | ALICE SPRINGS (B, L, D)
Wake to wide outback skies as The Ghan approaches Alice Springs. After breakfast onboard, explore Central Australia beginning with Alice Springs Desert Park, a registered botanic garden offering insight into the region’s landscapes and cultural heritage, including a free-flight bird demonstration. Continue to Simpsons Gap – Rungutjirpa to the Arrernte people – a serene site rich in Indigenous lore and home to rare plant species. Here you’ll meet chefs Mark Best and Nieves Barragán Mohacho for a spectacular outdoor lunch served from camp chairs in a uniquely Australian setting.
Later, enjoy a distinctive evening experience at the historic Alice Springs Telegraph Station with dinner under the stars prepared by The Ghan chefs and paired with a platinum beverage selection. Watch a traditional blacksmith demonstration or take the opportunity for a short camel ride.

DAY 3 | COOBER PEDY (B, L, D)
Today explore the extraordinary outback town of Coober Pedy, the opal capital of the world where many residents live underground. Travel by coach after breakfast onboard and walk among the ochre landscapes of Kanku-Breakaways Conservation Park before visiting Two Dogs Lookout and the Serbian Orthodox Church. Enjoy lunch at the Big Winch Café prepared by Jo Barrett and Shannon Fleming with sweeping views across dugouts and desert plains. Continue with visits to the Umoona Arts Centre and Old Timers Mine before returning to The Ghan in Manguri.
Back onboard for your final evening, dress up for a glamorous black-tie dinner prepared by Australian chef Mark Best, celebrating the romance of great rail journeys.

This morning the landscape transforms as the red outback gives way to the green fields of South Australia while travelling south through the Flinders Ranges. Enjoy a leisurely brunch onboard before arriving into Adelaide, concluding your remarkable journey.
