Itinerary
Day 1 — Cairo (Sunday)
Welcome to Egypt! Upon arrival at Cairo Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax by the pool, or — if you arrive early — you may join our optional Backstreets of Cairo Tour (departs 10 am) exploring:
Downtown Cairo
The mosques and monuments of El Moez Street in Islamic Cairo
Garbage City and the remarkable Cave Church of St Simon
At 7 pm, meet your guide and fellow travellers at a Welcome Meeting.
Overnight: Cairo
Day 2 — Pyramids of Giza & Saqqara
After breakfast, enjoy a full day of sightseeing:
Pyramids of Giza & the Sphinx — ancient wonders and the world’s oldest tourist attraction.
Cheops, Chephren & Mycerinus pyramids: built with ~2.5 million limestone blocks (≈6 million tonnes).
Stop at a government-supervised papyrus workshop for genuine souvenirs.
Continue to Saqqara Necropolis to see Zhoser’s Step Pyramid, built by Imhotep (2700 BC).
Afternoon free to relax or explore. Optional: visit Khan el Khalili Bazaar for shopping.

Day 3 — Grand Egyptian Museum & Sleeper Train to Luxor
Guided visits today:
Grand Egyptian Museum — 490,000 m² with 100,000+ artefacts (including King Tutankhamun’s treasures).
Egyptian Museum — statues, jewellery, sarcophagi, and remarkably preserved mummies (e.g., Yuya & Thuyu).
Return to the hotel, relax, then board the overnight sleeper train to Luxor.

Day 4 — Dendera & Luxor
Morning arrival in Luxor, then travel 60 km north to Dendera Temple Complex, one of Egypt’s best-preserved sites. Highlights include the stunning Temple of Hathor with its ornate ceiling.
Afternoon free in Luxor (swim, wander the town). Optional evening: Luxor Temple illuminated at night (book locally).

Day 5 — Valley of the Kings & Karnak
Discover Luxor’s ancient West Bank:
Valley of the Kings — explore decorated tombs, including Ramses II, Seti I, Amenhotep II & Tutankhamun.
Valley of the Queens & Temple of Hatshepsut — one of Egypt’s few ruling queens.
Colossi of Memnon — 18 m-high statues of Amenophis III.
Midday return to hotel for lunch/pool time. Later: visit Temple of Karnak, an immense complex of sanctuaries, pylons and obelisks.

Day 6 — Farewell Luxor (Friday)
Tour ends after breakfast with a transfer to Luxor Airport.
