Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive Buenos Aires Arrive in Argentina’s cosmopolitan capital city, Buenos Aires. A private transfer with an English-speaking guide will take you to your hotel. Often referred to as the “Paris of the South”, Buenos Aires is known for its wide boulevards, colonial architecture, stylish cafés and vibrant neighbourhoods. Spend the rest of the day exploring at leisure.
Day 2 – Fly Buenos Aires to Ushuaia Transfer to the airport for your flight to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. On arrival you’ll be transferred to your hotel, typically the luxurious Arakur Ushuaia Resort & Spa (or similar). Enjoy free time to relax or explore the town before an optional evening briefing with fellow travellers.
Day 3 – Embarkation in Ushuaia Spend the morning exploring Ushuaia before transferring to the port in the afternoon. Board the Ocean Albatros where the expedition team will welcome you onboard. After a safety briefing and orientation, enjoy the Captain’s welcome dinner as your voyage to Antarctica begins.
Days 4–5 – Crossing the Drake Passage Cross the legendary Drake Passage as your expedition team delivers engaging lectures on Antarctic wildlife, history and exploration. Keep watch for seabirds following the ship and take advantage of the ship’s onboard facilities while learning about the incredible region ahead.
Day 6 – South Shetland Islands Your first glimpse of Antarctica arrives at the South Shetland Islands. Expect dramatic volcanic landscapes, glaciers and abundant wildlife including penguins, fur seals and elephant seals. Weather permitting, explore by Zodiac and enjoy shore landings such as Deception Island.
Days 7–9 – Antarctic Peninsula Spend the next days exploring the breathtaking Antarctic Peninsula. Witness penguins building nests, spot seals resting on ice floes and look for whales in the icy waters. Each day includes up to two excursions (weather permitting) including Zodiac cruises and guided shore landings. You may also visit scientific stations and historic sites.
Days 10–11 – Crossing the Drake Passage Farewell Antarctica as you cruise north across the Drake Passage. Enjoy the final days onboard with lectures, wildlife spotting and a special farewell presentation celebrating your Antarctic expedition.
Day 12 – Disembark Ushuaia & Fly to Buenos Aires Disembark in Ushuaia and transfer to the airport for your flight back to Buenos Aires. On arrival you’ll transfer to your hotel for a final overnight stay and time to reflect on your Antarctic adventure.
Day 13 – Depart Buenos Aires After breakfast, transfer to Buenos Aires Airport for your onward flight home to Australia.
