Itineraries
Day 1 – Arrive Auckland (D) On arrival in Auckland, you will be met by a Grand Pacific Tours representative and transferred to your hotel. This evening enjoy a complimentary pre-dinner drink as you meet your Tour Leader and fellow travellers, followed by a welcome dinner. Stay: Grand Millennium Auckland
Day 2 – Auckland → Bay of Islands (B,D) Depart Auckland and travel to Matakohe for a visit and informative talk at the Kauri Museum. Continue via Whangarei to Paihia in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Enjoy a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where the Treaty between Māori chiefs and the British Crown was signed in 1840. Stay: Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands (2 nights)
Day 3 – Bay of Islands | Free Day (B) Enjoy a free day to explore the Bay of Islands. Optional experiences include a Cape Reinga coach trip via Ninety Mile Beach or a scenic flight. This evening is also free, with the option to join a relaxing dinner cruise. Stay: Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands
Day 4 – Bay of Islands → Auckland (B) Cruise through the stunning Bay of Islands to Cape Brett, where a historic lighthouse overlooks Piercy Island, also known as the ‘Hole in the Rock’. Watch for dolphins and marine life before returning to Paihia and travelling south via Whangarei to Auckland. The evening is free to explore the restaurants near your hotel. Day 5 – Auckland → Rotorua (B,L,D) Enjoy a city sights tour of Auckland before travelling through picturesque countryside to Hobbiton. Enjoy a buffet lunch before a guided tour of the famous film set, including Hobbit Holes, the Mill and the Green Dragon Inn. You will also step inside an authentic Hobbit Hole for a fully immersive experience. Stay: Pullman Rotorua (2 nights)
Day 6 – Rotorua (B,SD) Begin the day with a gondola ride and breakfast at Skyline Rotorua, offering spectacular views. Enjoy time for a thrilling luge ride before visiting Agrodome for an entertaining and educational farming experience. Later, visit Te Puia to see boiling mud pools and powerful geysers. This evening enjoy a traditional Hāngi feast followed by a Māori cultural performance featuring the poi dance and haka. Stay: Pullman Rotorua
Day 7 – Rotorua → Napier (B,D) Travel along the Thermal Explorer Highway to Huka Falls and Lake Taupo before continuing to Napier, known as the Art Deco Capital of the World. Day 8 – Napier → Wellington (B,SD) Travel south to Wellington, New Zealand’s vibrant capital. Enjoy a city tour before visiting Te Papa, the National Museum of New Zealand, to explore the powerful Gallipoli: A Scale of War exhibition.
