The journey begins in Baku, the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, home to seaside promenades and exceptional architecture. Once a former Soviet capital, Baku has undergone a fascinating transformation, blending East and West into one remarkable destination. Between its grand palaces, delicious cuisine and the warm hospitality of its people, an unforgettable experience awaits.

Day 3 | Baku
Sightseeing begins with a tour of Baku, the commercial hub of Azerbaijan. Visit Martyrs' Lane, a memorial dedicated to the victims of the 1990 Black January massacre and explore the medieval-walled Old Town of Icheri Sheher. Discover the UNESCO World Heritage-listed 15th-century Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the 12th-century Maiden Tower.

Tea culture is an important social custom in Azerbaijan. Typically served strong and freshly brewed in traditional pear-shaped armudu glasses, Azerbaijani tea is accompanied by sweets and enjoyed as a symbol of hospitality. Take part in an authentic tea experience within one of the Old Town's historic caravanserais, once serving as hubs for passing travellers.
The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to further explore the city before dinner.
This evening, step back in time and enjoy a welcome dinner at the Shirvanshah Museum Restaurant, accompanied by traditional live music.

Day 4 | Baku – Gobustan – Baku
Today's exploration begins with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Gobustan National Park, renowned for its remarkable collection of ancient rock carvings. More than 6,000 petroglyphs, believed to date back over 20,000 years, depict animals, people, rituals and symbols, offering a fascinating glimpse into early human life.
Gobustan is also famous for its mud volcanoes, a rare geological phenomenon where bubbling mud, gas and water create an otherworldly landscape. According to local legend, the mineral-rich mud possesses healing properties and has traditionally been used for medicinal purposes.
Returning to Baku, visit a bustling local bazaar filled with seasonal produce before exploring the striking Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre. Designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid, the museum showcases Azerbaijan's history and the life of former president Heydar Aliyev.

Day 5 | Baku – Sheki
The first stop today is Shamakhi, the ancient capital of Azerbaijan. Rich in history, the city is known as the birthplace of many celebrated Azerbaijani scientists, philosophers and architects. Explore the Juma Mosque, built on the site of an ancient fire-worshipping temple, and stroll through the grounds of the Yeddi Gumbaz Seven Tombs.
After free time for lunch, continue to Sheki. Once a flourishing centre of silk production, this charming city is famous for the beautifully decorated Palace of the Sheki Khans. Surrounded by forests and mountains, Sheki offers a spectacular setting.
Visit the Yukhari Caravanserai, a historic roadside inn that once welcomed merchants travelling along ancient trade routes.
A short distance away lies the picturesque village of Kiş, home to the oldest church in the Caucasus. Enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings before returning to Sheki for dinner.

Day 6 | Sheki – Lagodekhi – Telavi
Cross the border into Georgia this morning, arriving in Lagodekhi. Visit a local winery featuring a unique cellar carved into the Caucasus Mountains. Explore the interconnected tunnels before enjoying lunch accompanied by a wine tasting.
Standing proudly above the Alazani Valley, the Gremi Church Complex is the next highlight. Built during the prosperous reign of King Levan of Kakheti, this 16th-century architectural monument once served as both a royal citadel and place of worship.
Late this afternoon, arrive in Telavi, often regarded as Georgia's most medieval city.

Day 7 | Telavi
Nestled in the foothills of the Gombori Mountains, Telavi is the largest town in Georgia's famed wine region. The day's exploration begins at Bodbe Monastery, the final resting place of Saint Nino, the woman credited with bringing Christianity to Georgia.

Day 8 | Telavi – Tbilisi
Depart for Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, known for its rich culture, traditions and fascinating history.
Upon arrival, discover the city's highlights on a guided tour, including Metekhi Church, the Georgian Synagogue, the Sulphur Baths and Rustaveli Avenue. Ride a cable car to the ancient Narikala Fortress for panoramic views across the city. The afternoon is at leisure.
This evening, enjoy dinner at a traditional restaurant while watching a vibrant folk performance celebrating the unique heritage of Georgia's regions.

Day 9 | Tbilisi
Today's sightseeing reveals some of Tbilisi's hidden gems.
Explore the historic Sololaki district, known for its Art Nouveau architecture, elegant balconies and atmospheric streets. Continue to the Dry Bridge Market, where antiques, artwork and an eclectic collection of treasures can be found.

Located within the former home and studio of renowned painter Mose Toidze, this museum houses a collection of artwork and historical artefacts. A local guest speaker will also provide fascinating insights into Georgian life, past and present.

Day 10 | Tbilisi – Kazbegi
Farewell Tbilisi and travel to Mtskheta, Georgia's ancient capital. Explore Jvari Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site dating back to the 6th century, before visiting the magnificent Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, believed to house the Robe of Christ.
Continue along the spectacular Georgian Military Highway to the Ananuri Architectural Complex, a historic fortress overlooking dramatic scenery.
Late this afternoon, arrive in Kazbegi, also known as Stepantsminda, a picturesque mountain town beneath the towering peak of Mount Kazbek.

Spectacular scenery takes centre stage today while exploring the mountain town of Kazbegi. Enjoy a short walk through the town before travelling by 4WD to Gergeti Trinity Church. Perched at 2,200 metres above sea level, this iconic 14th-century church sits amidst breathtaking mountain landscapes.
Continue towards the Russian border, taking in views of the dramatic Dariali Gorge.

Known locally as khinkali, these beloved Georgian dumplings are a regional specialty. Learn traditional preparation techniques during a warm and authentic home visit.
The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. Those wishing to explore further may choose to join a guided walk through Dariali Gorge to admire the stunning Gveleti Waterfall.

Day 12 | Kazbegi – Kutaisi
Active day
Depart Kazbegi this morning and travel to a local restaurant for lunch. After enjoying the flavours of the region, continue to Gori, the centre of the Shida Kartli region and the birthplace of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. Visit the Stalin Museum, including the house where he was born and his personal railway carriage.
Continue to the ancient rock-hewn settlement of Uplistsikhe, known as the "Fortress of God". Once an important religious, political and cultural centre, this remarkable site features rock-cut architecture dating back to the 6th century BC. In some areas, ancient wine presses carved into the stone can still be seen.
This evening, arrive in Kutaisi, the former capital of the Kingdom of Colchis. As Georgia's third-largest city and one of Europe's oldest continuously inhabited settlements, Kutaisi boasts a rich and fascinating history. The evening is at leisure.
Today involves approximately 1–2 hours of walking on uneven and rocky terrain.

Day 13 | Kutaisi
Today is dedicated to exploring the highlights of Kutaisi. One of the city's most impressive landmarks is Bagrati Cathedral, regarded as a symbol of a unified Georgia. Perched atop a hill, its striking turquoise roof contrasts beautifully with the white stone façade.
Visit the local farmers' market, where colourful stalls showcase fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses and regional produce.
Continue to the nearby town of Tskaltubo to view the abandoned sanatoriums. During the Soviet era, Tskaltubo was a renowned spa destination, famous for its mineral waters and therapeutic bathing facilities.
Later this afternoon, descend into the remarkable Prometheus Caves, a 1.2-kilometre-long underground wonderland featuring stalactites, stalagmites, petrified waterfalls and subterranean rivers. A boat ride on the underground lake is included, weather permitting.

Day 14 | Kutaisi – Borjomi – Vardzia
Depart historic Kutaisi and travel to Borjomi, a town renowned for its mineral water industry. Fed by glacial waters filtering through the Bakuriani Mountains, Borjomi's natural springs have been celebrated since the 19th century and contributed significantly to the region's popularity. Enjoy a walk through the park and sample the famous mineral water.
Next, experience a traditional Meskhetian Stone Oven Ambari baking demonstration. Learn how the region's signature bread is prepared before enjoying a tasting, followed by a homemade lunch showcasing local Meskhetian cuisine. Continue into the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, often considered the cradle of Georgian culture. The journey reveals diverse scenery ranging from stone-terraced landscapes and green valleys to ancient fortresses, including views of Rabati Castle.
En route, stop for a photo opportunity at the 10th-century Khertvisi Fortress, one of Georgia's oldest fortifications, before arriving in Vardzia this evening.

An exciting day of discovery begins with a visit to the remarkable Vardzia Cave Monastery, carved into the slopes of Erusheti Mountain. Founded during the reign of King Giorgi III and Queen Tamar in the 12th century, this extraordinary complex was carved directly into the rock and played a significant role in Georgian history.
After exploring the tunnels, chambers and churches of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site, enjoy free time for lunch at the nearby cafés.
Special Experience
Vardzia has long held religious significance within the Georgian Orthodox Church. Visit the upper Vardzia convent, home to a community of nuns dedicated to preserving centuries-old traditions. Learn the techniques used to craft wooden crosses and traditional honey wax candles, while also observing demonstrations of embroidery and religious icon painting.
Return to the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at leisure before gathering for dinner at a local guesthouse this evening.

Day 16 | Vardzia – Yerevan
Cross the border into Armenia this morning and travel to Gyumri, renowned for its distinctive heritage and beautifully carved architecture.
Visit Saint Astvatsatsin Church, also known as the Church of Seven Wounds, named in honour of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary. Although originally built in the 7th century, the church was reconstructed in 1975. Admire its striking architectural features, including the bell tower, five altars and intricate carvings etched into the stonework. Later this afternoon, arrive in Yerevan, Armenia's capital and largest city. Situated along the Hrazdan River, Yerevan is one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities and serves as the country's cultural, administrative and industrial centre.
Enjoy free time this afternoon before dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 17 | Yerevan – Dilijan – Lake Sevan – Yerevan
Today's journey leads to the beautiful Tavush Province, beginning with a visit to the charming town of Dilijan. Stroll along Sharambeyan Street, lined with traditional wooden and stone buildings, and explore local craft workshops and art studios. Observe skilled artisans at work and browse handcrafted wooden carvings, khachkars, amulets and decorative pieces.
Continue to a nearby Molokan village for an insight into Armenia's rural traditions. Life here remains deeply connected to agricultural practices and centuries-old customs.
Next, explore Lake Sevan, one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world. Depending on the weather and light conditions, the lake reveals a remarkable spectrum of blue hues. The lake also plays an important role in Armenia's hydroelectric and irrigation systems.
Visit the 9th-century Sevanavank Monastery, perched on a peninsula overlooking the lake and offering spectacular panoramic views.
Later, enjoy a fish barbecue masterclass in a private residence, followed by lunch featuring the freshly prepared dishes.

Day 18 | Yerevan
Explore Yerevan on a guided walking tour, uncovering the many layers of this fascinating city. Discover highlights including Republic Square, the Cascade Complex, Mother Armenia, the Opera House and centuries-old religious sites.
Continue to the Matenadaran Museum, home to one of the world's most significant collections of ancient Greek, Persian and Arabic manuscripts.
Following free time for lunch, visit a local Khachkar workshop. These intricately carved Armenian cross-stones are a unique expression of medieval Christian Armenian art and have been recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The day's final visit is the Genocide Memorial. Built in 1967, the memorial features a 44-metre stele symbolising national rebirth, while twelve stone slabs represent Armenia's lost provinces. The site offers a moving tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Today's exploration begins at Khor Virap, one of Armenia's most significant monasteries. Once the site of a royal prison, it was here that Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned before eventually leading Armenia's conversion to Christianity. Explore the monastery's chapels and underground chambers while enjoying magnificent views of Mount Ararat.
Continue to the Areni Cave Complex, an archaeological site renowned for remarkable discoveries including the world's oldest known winery, leather shoe and evidence of ancient settlements.
Later, enjoy a cheese-making masterclass accompanied by homemade wine and vodka tastings in the Vayots Dzor region, an area celebrated for producing some of Armenia's finest wines.
On the return journey to Yerevan, stop for photos at the stunning Noravank Monastery. Surrounded by dramatic red cliffs, this 13th-century complex once served as an important religious and cultural centre.

Day 20 | Yerevan – Garni & Geghard – Yerevan
Travel through the spectacular Azat Canyon to the historic sites of Garni and Geghard. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and carved by the Azat River, the canyon provides some of the country's most beautiful scenery.
Visit the Temple of Garni, a remarkable first-century pagan temple and the only surviving Greco-Roman structure in Armenia. Continue to the 12th-century cave monastery of Geghard, famed for its rock-cut architecture and spiritual atmosphere.
Inside the monastery, enjoy a moving acapella performance by the female vocal ensemble Luys, whose harmonies perfectly complement the remarkable acoustics of the ancient complex.
