Itinerary
Day 1: Rhodes
Stay: Rhodes Plaza Hotel, Rhodes The tour begins this evening in Rhodes with a welcome drink and dinner at the hotel. Over the next 10 nights, flights and high-speed ferries link three nights each on Rhodes and Crete and two nights each on Santorini and Mykonos, with plenty of ‘My Time’ to enjoy whitewashed villages, Greek tavernas and famous sunsets.
Day 2: Rhodes
Stay: Rhodes Plaza Hotel, Rhodes An expert local guide leads a walking tour of Old Rhodes Town, from the pretty harbour to the massive medieval walls and moats built by the Knights of St John. The rest of the day is ‘My Time’ to explore the old town’s lanes, shops and restaurants, just steps from the hotel.
Day 3: Rhodes → Lindos → Rhodes
Stay: Rhodes Plaza Hotel, Rhodes Follow the coast to the picturesque village of Lindos, with its pebbled streets and whitewashed houses overlooking the sea, and visit its striking Acropolis. Return to Rhodes mid-afternoon for time at leisure.
Day 4: Rhodes → Heraklion, Crete
Stay: Hotel Megaron, Heraklion Fly to Heraklion for a three-night stay on Crete, the largest of the Greek Islands and a crossroads of many civilisations, known for its glorious beaches and traditional mountain villages.
Day 5: Knossos → Agios Nikolaos → Heraklion
Stay: Hotel Megaron, Heraklion Visit the Minoan Palace of Knossos, the 3,000-year-old Bronze Age capital linked to the legend of Theseus and the Minotaur. Enjoy lunchtime in the pretty port of Agios Nikolaos, then spend the rest of the day exploring Heraklion’s medieval old town.
Day 6: Cretan Mountains 4WD Adventure
Stay: Hotel Megaron, Heraklion Travel by 4WD in small groups into Crete’s wild and rugged hinterland, visiting a family-run shepherd’s farm and the fabled birthplace of Zeus*, before lunch on the terrace of a taverna in a Greek mountain village. The evening is free in Heraklion.
Day 7: Heraklion → Santorini
Stay: Santorini Palace Hotel, Firostefani Take a high-speed ferry to Santorini and its dramatic volcanic cliffs. A local guide shows you the ancient ruins of Akrotiri and the cliff-top capital of Fira, and the evening is yours to enjoy a famous Santorini sunset over the caldera.
Day 8: Santorini
Stay: Santorini Palace Hotel, Firostefani Enjoy a guided walking tour of the cliff-top village of Oia, then a day of ‘My Time’ in Oia, Fira or by the hotel pool, finishing with another spectacular Santorini sunset.
Day 9: Santorini → Mykonos
Stay: Petasos Beach Resort, Mykonos Travel by high-speed ferry to Mykonos. This afternoon, a local guide leads a walk through the whitewashed alleys, blue doorways and bougainvillea to the island’s iconic 16th-century windmills.
Day 10: Mykonos
Stay: Petasos Beach Resort, Mykonos Visit an olive oil farm for a tour, tasting and light lunch, then spend the rest of the day at leisure on Mykonos, Queen of the Cyclades.
Day 11: Mykonos → Athens
Stay: Hotel Royal Olympic, Athens After a morning at leisure, take a high-speed ferry to Athens for the final two nights of the tour. The evening is free.
Day 12: Athens
Stay: Hotel Royal Olympic, Athens A guided tour of Athens takes in the Olympic Stadium, the Plaka district and the magnificent Acropolis and Parthenon. Tonight, celebrate the journey at a farewell dinner.
Day 13: Athens
After breakfast, the tour ends in Athens.
