Day 1 | Depart Australia – Arrive Negombo

Depart Australia and arrive in Negombo. Transfer to your hotel and settle in for your Sri Lankan adventure.

Day 2 | Negombo — Lagoon sunset cruise

Enjoy a leisurely day to recover from your flight before a scenic sunset cruise through the jungle-fringed Negombo Lagoon. Finish with a traditional BBQ dinner and the chance to get to know your fellow travellers.

Day 3 | Negombo – Dambulla – Sigiriya

Visit Negombo’s lively fish markets before travelling to the UNESCO-listed Dambulla Cave Temple complex. Continue to Sigiriya and your luxurious accommodation, surrounded by waterways, lush meadows and views towards Lion Rock.

Day 4 | Sigiriya — Ritigala & Minneriya National Park

Explore the atmospheric ruins of the ancient Ritigala Buddhist monastery before an afternoon jeep safari through Minneriya National Park, renowned for its elephants and abundant birdlife.

Day 5 | Sigiriya — Polonnaruwa

Discover the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, including its palaces, bathing pools, stupas, Buddha sculptures and fascinating Quadrangle. Return to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 6 | Sigiriya — Lion Rock & local village experience

Climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, passing its ancient frescoes and historic ruins before reaching panoramic views from the summit. Later, visit a nearby village and enjoy a traditional lunch with a local family, followed by time at leisure.

Day 7 | Sigiriya – Matale – Kandy

Travel towards Kandy, visiting the Coconut House and a spice plantation in Matale along the way. On arrival in Kandy, visit the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Day 8 | Kandy — Botanical Gardens & cultural show

Explore the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya before a guided tour of Kandy, including Queen’s Hotel, Kandy Lake and the local market. Finish with a traditional Kandyan cultural and dance performance.

Day 9 | Kandy – Nuwara Eliya — Tea plantation experience

Journey into Sri Lanka’s picturesque tea country and enjoy an exclusive visit to a prestigious tea plantation, learning about the tea-making process and sampling local varieties. Arrive at your elegant colonial hotel, dating to 1891.

Day 10 | Nuwara Eliya — Scenic train, waterfalls & high tea

Take a scenic local train journey to Thalawakale, followed by a tour of Nuwara Eliya and visits to Gregory Lake, the Central Market and Bazaar. See St. Clair and Devon Falls before returning to the Grand Hotel for an iconic high tea.

Day 11 | Nuwara Eliya – Udawalawe – Yala

Travel towards Yala, stopping to admire the waterfalls around Ella. Visit the Elephant Transit Home at Udawalawe to learn about its rehabilitation program before continuing to Yala National Park.

Day 12 | Yala National Park — Wildlife safari

Enjoy a leisurely morning at your hotel before an afternoon safari through Yala National Park in search of elephants, sloth bears, wild buffalo and the elusive Sri Lankan leopard.

Day 13 | Yala – Weligama – Galle

Travel to the historic coastal city of Galle and explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Galle Fort on a guided walking tour. Continue to Habaraduwa to visit a turtle hatchery and Weligama to see its famous stilt fishermen.

Day 14 | Galle — Madu River & Moonstone Mine

Cruise along the scenic Madu River through mangrove-covered islets before visiting the Moonstone Mine at Meetiyagoda and the moving Tsunami Photograph Museum. Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 15 | Galle – Colombo — City tour & farewell dinner

Travel to Colombo for a guided city tour, including Gangarama Temple and the Cricket Club Café. Later, explore the city aboard open-top Jeeps, taking in Galle Face Green, Colombo Fort, Pettah and other landmarks before a farewell dinner at the Gallery Café.

Day 16 | Colombo — Day at leisure & depart
