Itinerary

DAY 1 | 6 SEP 2027, MONDAY

Stay: William MacIntosh Motor Lodge - 2 nights*

Meet at the designated meeting point in Glenelg*, this morning to depart for the historic river port town of Goolwa. Board the Spirit of the Murray for a relaxing 4-hour lunch cruise from Goolwa to Long Point, travelling along the waters where the Murray River meets the Southern Ocean. The cruise offers ever-changing scenery rich with birdlife and captain’s commentary that brings the region’s history and ecology to life. Upon arriving at Long Point, meet the coach and continue to Naracoorte for a 2-night stay. (L, D) 

DAY 2 | 7 SEP 2027, TUESDAY 

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the Victoria Fossil Cave at the Naracoorte Caves World Heritage Site. Learn about the ancient fossil remains of megafauna and the remarkable geological processes that shaped the caves over thousands of years. The visit also includes time at the Wonambi Fossil Centre, enhancing understanding of Australia’s prehistoric past. Step back in time to discover what Naracoorte was like over 200,000 years ago. After travelling to Penola, to visit the Mary MacKillop Penola Centre, which offers insight into the early life of Australia’s first saint and her connection to this historic township. The afternoon is spent in the renowned Coonawarra wine region, where a visit to Chardonnay Lodge includes a relaxed wine tasting followed by lunch. The meal features a variety of shared dishes and fresh fruit platters, providing a delightful culinary experience in a classic vineyard setting. Enjoy dinner tonight back at the hotel. (B, L, D)

DAY 3 | 8 SEP 2027, WEDNESDAY

Stay: Presidential Mount Gambier*

Travel south to Mount Gambier and take a tour of the Blue Lake Pumping Station, offering insight into the region’s vital water supply and the engineering behind the landmark. Afterwards, enjoy a walking tour of the Umpherston Sinkhole. Originally a limestone cave, the roof collapsed forming the sinkhole. In 1886 the local landowner converted it into a terraced garden adding stone walls, staircases, and exotic plants. Lunch is at leisure in Mount Gambier. After lunch visit the Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre showcasing a diverse range of exhibitions. Later explore The Old Court House Museum with a self-guided tour, to learn about the historic courtroom and gallery exhibits. Enjoy dinner tonight back at the hotel. (B, D) 

DAY 4 | 9 SEP 2027, THURSDAY

Stay: Mid City Motel Warrnambool - 2 nights*

After breakfast continue south-east, crossing the border into Victoria, to Portland. Later in the morning, visit the Portland Cable Tram Depot Museum and enjoy a one-hour tram ride along the waterfront, accompanied by commentary on the town’s maritime history. Following the ride, a light lunch will be served at the museum. After lunch continue travelling along the coast to Warrnambool. (B,L,D) 

DAY 5 | 10 SEP 2027, FRIDAY 

This morning, explore nearby Port Fairy with a town tour led by a local expert, sharing stories of the town’s maritime past, historic streetscapes and charming coastal character. Enjoy some free time to explore the town and purchase lunch (own cost). The afternoon continues in Warrnambool with entry to the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum and the opportunity to explore Australia’s rich shipwreck history through engaging exhibits and a guided tour. Return to the hotel for some free time and dinner. This evening return to Flagstaff Hill to experience a sound and light show, bringing the maritime tales to life after dark. (B, D)

DAY 6 | 11 SEP 2027, SATURDAY 

Stay: 61 Ocean Road Motel, Apollo Bay*

Travel along the Great Ocean Road with several scenic stops including London Bridge, Port Campbell, Loch Ard Gorge and the iconic Twelve Apostles. Early afternoon, arrive at the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk for lunch, followed by time to experience the elevated walkway through the rainforest canopy, offering a unique perspective on the Otway Ranges surrounded by towering trees and lush vegetation. Later, continue to Apollo Bay for an overnight stay. (B, L, D) 

DAY 7 | 12 SEP 2027, SUNDAY 

Stay: Grampians Motel, Halls Gap - 2 nights*

Begin today with a stop at Memorial Arch, a tribute to the 3,000 return World War I soldiers to honour their fallen comrades. Next a quick stop at the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie, for a tasting of a variety of handcrafted chocolates. Continue inland to the Ararat RSL Club for lunch. Later travel to the Grampians region with a stop at the Five Ducks Farm for a jam tasting accompanied by traditional scones, cream and coffee. (B, L, D) 

DAY 8 | 13 SEP 2027, MONDAY

Today enjoy a tour of the Grampians with a local guide, visiting some of the region’s most celebrated natural highlights including stops at MacKenzie Falls, Reeds Lookout and Boroka Lookout, each offering views of the rugged mountain ranges and valleys. Enjoy lunch at Pomonal Estate with shared platters of fresh seasonal produce. Conclude the afternoon with a visit to Grampians Olive Co. for a farm visit and an informative talk about olive oil growing and production. (B, L, D)

DAY 9 | 14 SEP 2027, TUESDAY 

Stay: Monarto Safari Resort*

Travel across the border back into South Australia and stop at Keith for a light lunch at Henry & Rose Café before arriving at Monarto. Check into the resort and enjoy some free time trying to spot roaming animals near the waterhole before enjoying a Sunset Wildlife Safari. This opportunity is exclusively offered to guests of the resort. (B, L, D) 

DAY 10 | 15 SEP 2027, WEDNESDAY 

After breakfast, tour the Monarto Safari Park, and drive through multiple open range habitats offering close up views of the animals as they roam free in their environments. The guide will share engaging insights into animal behaviour, conservation programs and Monarto’s important role in global breeding initiatives. After the tour, travel back to the meeting point in Glenelg*, where the tour concludes. (B)

Passport & Visas It is necessary for all passengers to be in possession of a valid passport which has at least 6 months validity beyond your return into Australia. Visas are not required for Australian passport holders. Minimum Numbers Group fares quoted for this tour are subject to a minimum of 15 paying and maximum 24 passengers travelling together. Phil Hoffmann Travel reserves the right to increase the tour price or cancel the tour should the numbers travelling not meet the required minimum. Tour Escort travels when minimum numbers of 15 are reached. Price Alterations Tour prices specified are based on airfares, taxes and land arrangement tariffs applicable at the time of printing, therefore they may be subject to alteration with or without prior notice until final payment date, as per brochure final payment date. Extensions/stopovers An amendment fee may apply for any changes to group flight arrangements. You may also need to pay any additional applicable taxes. Group Flights – Seat Selection For seat selection, please ensure that requests are submitted in advance to secure preferred seating arrangements. Availability is subject to the airline’s policies, and additional charges may apply for specific seat preferences. If you have any special seating requirements, such as extra legroom, aisle seats, or assistance-related seating, please notify us as soon as possible. We will coordinate with the airline to accommodate your request. Airlines do reserve the right to change a passenger's seat at any time, even if the seat has been paid for in advance due to various reasons. Special Assistance To ensure a smooth travel experience, all wheelchairs and walking aids must be provided to the Groups Department team for coordination with the airline. Kindly ensure the following details are submitted: • Brand of the wheelchair or walking aid • A clear photo of the item • Weight of the item • Dimensions (Height, Width, Depth) Amendments/changes There may be fees charged per amendment by third party suppliers for any reservation changes after your booking is confirmed. Twin share Room Match Policy In the event of a cancellation for a twin share room match, the travelling passenger may be required to pay for a single room supplement cost, which will not be covered under their travel insurance policy. Similarly, if a traveler decides whilst travelling that they do not want to share any longer, they will be required to pay the full costs for a single room. Refunds/Credits No refund is available in respect of any sightseeing tours, accommodation, meals or any other services not utilized or required during this tour. No refund is available for cancellations after the tour has commenced. Cancellations of confirmed bookings will be subject to a $400 per person service fee plus any charges imposed by principals involved in operating the tour. Therefore, the cancellation fee may be up to the total cost for land and/or airfares. Cancelled bookings are non-transferable. Baggage Please refer to individual airline tickets for the baggage allowance for your flights. Airlines may charge you for baggage in excess of these allowances, which will be at passenger’s expense. Whilst on tour one main bag and 1 piece of hand luggage per person is allowed. Medical Advice It is wise to seek medical advice before travelling from a travel specialist doctor, or from your own GP. Travelers must meet Phil Hoffmann Travel ’Statement of Fitness’ standards to participate. Insurance is compulsory to cover against loss of deposit and loss of airfares, personal accident, medical cover etc. If you have an ongoing medical condition, you may be required to complete a pre-existing medical form. If you are over 70 years of age, you are required to complete a senior’s medical form. Your consultant will provide all the details. Children Participants must be over the age of 15. Responsibility Phil Hoffmann Travel reserves the right to alter or omit any part of the itinerary or change of reservation, features and/or means of conveyance without any notice and for any reason whatsoever. Phil Hoffmann Travel does not accept liability for failure on the part of transportation companies, hotel contractors and other principals whose responsibility is confined to their own operations. Phil Hoffmann Travel reserves the right to alter hotels used should the necessity arise. The transportation companies or firms shall be exempt from all liabilities in respect of any detention, delay, loss, damage, sickness or injury and by whom so ever caused and whatever kind occurring of or to the passenger at any time when the passenger is not on board a conveyance used or operated by the transportation companies or firms. We reserve the right to take any reasonable action should your health, actions or behavior impinge on the rights, welfare or enjoyment of other passengers.
